Sustainability

sfgb-logo_color-vertical-250pxIn October 2009, Sarai was recognized by the City and County of San Francisco for meeting the stringent requirements of the San Francisco Green Business program. More than a simple statement of good intentions, San Francisco operates the strictest green business program of any city in the United States. Participants must meet rigorous standards in the areas of energy conservation, toxics reduction, and waste reduction. These standards are verified and reviewed each year.

Sarai’s President Zac Mutrux says, “Sustainability is a core business value for our company. As a service-oriented business we are committed to helping to improve our community and to preserve limited resources for future generations.”

Specific steps Sarai has taken to limit the company’s impact on the environment include:

  • Purchase of a Smart ForTwo, the most fuel efficient non-hybrid vehicle available.
  • Balanced the car’s emissions with a carbon offset from Terrapass.
  • Improved water conservation by installing a low-flow faucet aerator.
  • Disconnected old, inefficient fluorescent lighting fixtures.
  • Use of recycled paper products with a high percentage of post consumer waste content.
  • Having business cards and stationery printed with non-toxic soy based inks.

Sarai provides technology guidance, management and support services to organizations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
